Action updated!
There are 400 million toys unused and unloved in homes in Britain. There are 21.5 million households in Britain, so that's roughly 19 toys per household.
There are around 400 million forgotten toys in the UK. Unused. Unloved. Under the bed. It doesn't have to be this way. Take them to a charity shop. Give them away. Swap them. Love your toys. And when you're done lovin', set them free.

The Sharing Shed
At my school we have a sharing shed.It is where you put things that you do not want and are in good condition.
Those things go to Dingwall Trust. Kids from 2- 16 that cannot live at home live there and we give all of our things to them.
I got lot of people in our school to bring in the old toys that they do not want anymore. we now cannot even shut the doors in the sharing shed.

www.reclaimfun.com project
We are running a pilot study for the reclaimfun project. Here unwanted but interested items are taken apart and explored. We test the science and engineering in them. We record the product in 3d, so preserving history. Then the item gets repaired, re-used or 'product digested' to metals and plastics, ready for recycleing. Please, before you bin it let us reclaim the fun out of it.
We recycled old toys, books, videos etc...
Students at The William Allitt Secondary School in Swadlincote, donated old toys, books & videos as well as unwanted gifts to be recycled and sold over two lunchtimes in March. All the proceeds (over £86!!) were split between the Haiti Disaster Fund and Barnardo's.
Another recycled/charity sale will run again in July - watch this space. 14 April 2010, 21:30
Time for a change...
Well all my old toys were just in boxes in my room, so I decided that i would give them all away. So i gave most of them to charity :) and my rooms a lot clearer which is always good, more space for clothes and shoes :) 22 March 2010, 18:03Recycled my son's toys
Once a year we have a good sort out and recycle his old toys. These either go to younger children we know or the local surestart centre, the nursery or the children's ward at the hospital. 18 March 2010, 16:08Recycle your toys

I love this one, we are clearing out our attic in the hope that the man in red needs some space, also hoping for an extension. I intend keeping some toys 'cos they're always handy to have but those that we don't need - give to someone you think would like them - make their day - and their parents - especially if it's a grey, rainy day when they can't get out - new toys (2nd hand) there's nothing like it! 07 November 2009, 18:12Waste Wise.
If we ussually have broken toys we throw them away, right? But since my school launched a program called waste wise i gave my broken toys there. Waste Wise is kindda like a recycling campaign that we give recyclable stuff to the school and they sell it and using the funds for school use. 02 November 2009, 09:32toys

my son has so many toys that he doesnt no what to do with them all and before we now it hes grown out of them. so we pack them up and take them to the charity shop.
