When we were thinking about how to get people to use less plastic bags, it didn't make sense to create a poster or a film: instead we made our beautiful 'I'm NOT a plastic bag' shopper.
And to get more people recycling their books, we designed bookmarks to help them read, rate then recycle their favourite books.
So, what things could you make that would help others do We Are What We Do actions?
Could be a mug, t-shirt, plant pot, foreign language phrase books or even a toilet roll. Anything you can think of.
1. Make sure it has a use. The world is full of useless tat. Like those plastic dinosaur heads that go on the end of pencils. Make sure whatever you create is useful and helps you do a We Are What We Do action.
2. Make sure it is desirable. Something beautiful and cool that everyone will want.
3. Think if you can use recycled materials. Like this stationery, these bags or these clothes?
4. Think about local sourcing, fairtrade, and organic materials These bags or these t-shirts are good examples.
5. Decide if you're going to sell your wares or give them away. If you're going to sell it, how much for? and where's the money going?
We'd love to see what you make. Do upload photos on this site, and you never know, your creation could be the next Anya Hindmarch bag.
